Steve,
You advised me in the past to get the program tax exempt, Which I finally did when the doctors were on board. I thought grant doors would open. I have had 2 grant writers and one has gotten us $6000 after the hurricane. One was through the United Way and the other was through Volenteers of Florida.
Dr. Asperilla was of course a big asset of getting his name to get things done. But he never seem to want to go any bigger than a little tax write off. Hell we were looking at bringing the National Golden Gloves here and I was looking at making a pay check.
Now I have respected your knowledge of the sport and done what you have taught me. Do you have any help on what the next step would be?

Marc, what I would do is try to get a story in the local papers, and also a radio talk show or two, about wanting to get the program re-started up there and say that you are looking for a building to perhaps be donated for a gym. Maybe an area in a YMCA, or a church, or some other vacant building. If/when you secure a building try to set up a fundraiser so that you can get some equipment together. After that, recruit gym members and charge about $40 per month for gym dues for the amateurs. If you have a building at no charge, some equipment and gym members you could be off and running again. You could also try to obtain a grant to help out since you are a non-profit charity. Try to get some parents or business owners involved to help out too. Good luck. Take care.
